About Laura

Harvesting God's Goodies

Hi, I’m Laura (on the left).

Here I am pictured with my mom in our garden.  Mom was a great prayer warrior, she died about 2 years ago, but left some lovely memories.

I guess I take after her in the prayer department. I have this desire that everybody should be prayed for daily!  And I think God is up to something big with the 5 Minute Miracle.

It’s exciting and scary to think that 1 million people could be praying for someone 5 minutes, 5 days a week.

Anyway, I consider prayer the most awesome responsibility and privilege a believer in Christ has!
I was introduced to Christ through my husband and Christian tv over 15 years ago. My testimony includes, smoking, alcohol, New Age activity, divorce and more–I’m not ashamed of my background, it gives me the opportunity to relate, have compassion, and boast in the what the Lord has done for me.

Work and education includes a Masters degree in Library Science, yes I was an academic, rare book and children and young adult  librarian. Went into sales and marketing in vocational education, and executive career counseling/outplacement.

Now I do some Christian career counseling, prayer ministry work with individuals (emotional healing) and have led a weekly Bible study for over 9 years.

I love witnessing and have participated in the Christian Farmers Outreach  activity at state fairs http://www.christianfarmers.com/, and have been a Breakthrough Intercessor for over 8 years http://www.intercessors.org/

Highlights have been children’s ministry for 5 years and Easter Sunrise Service at the Lincoln Memorial as members of Capital Church in Virginia.

The sanctity of life is very important to me and I volunteer at Carenet http://www.care-net.org/ as a client advocate.

I believe you must be born again (John 3:3); saved by God’s grace alone–a free gift from Him; accept the Trinity, the innerancy of Scripture, and prepare for the return of Christ by growing in relationship to Him. I pray for unity and love in the body of diverse believers.

My husband and I live on a farm in MD.  That’s our garden in the pic (mom was visiting). We have 2 inside cats, one adopted wheaton terrier, and too-many-to-count outside kitties. I love to sketch, play with pastels and watercolors. We attend Uniontown Bible Church, love the Lord, people, cooking and animals!

Check out some of our bakes-yum.  My husband Ken baked the breads, I made the desserts!

Will you be one of the 1 million people that is praying for someone 5 minutes, 5 days a week? Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Laura approached me a week ago and asked if I could be her ‘doctor guinea pig’ for a prayer ministry that she was developing. Always appreciating prayer, I said yes. I didn’t know what to expect, but I can say that the time spent in prayer with Laura has been wonderful. Each time she has prayed with me, God’s Holy Spirit has touched my heart in a deep way. I have seen the fruit of the prayer, as well. Changes are occurring inside me, as well as in the people with whom I share life. I am eager to share this idea with the ladies in the Bible study I attend. God hears the prayers of His people; He loves us so. He loves me. Thank you Laura for your investment in my life.

    Be blessed!

Sandy, Thanks for stepping out and enabling God to do more in your life and being a pioneer in the 5MM project. I appreciated your unvarnished curiosity about the whole concept. God’s ways are simple, it’s hard to believe that investing in another person for 5 minutes can be so fruitful and exciting. The best part is your desire to give the gift of 5 Minutes to others. Be Aware! It’s more blessed to give than to receive–especially when it comes to prayer!

Laura asked if she could pray for me for a week back in September, and I discovered that she is extremely sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. One day as she asked me what we should pray about, I listed a secondary concern. She said, “Okay. I was also thinking we could pray about this,” which happened to be my biggest concern at that moment. What an amazing gift from God!

Thanks, Laura, for caring for me and bringing me before God’s throne.

God directed Laura to help my wife and I from a terrible financial decision. We had prayed for God’s direction, and thought we were on the right track. Laura, under what we believe to be devine guidance, answered us and asked us to “check out some other information” where we found that the decision we had planned would have cost us dearly. What an amazing gift prayer is.
